Hourglass Ambient Lighting | The Edit

You know the saying 'better late than never'?

As much as this confession could be shocking, I did not own any of the Hourglass products before (spoiler alert - I do own one now!). I did read about the products with interest though and I know how the blogging community swears by the ambient lighting powder range, but I never felt that I really need it in my life. I was pretty much content with the Chanel Vitalumiere compact powder to set my foundation.

Eventually, I developed a bit more curiosity about the products and whilst I was doing a thorough research I discovered that bismuth oxychloride is one of the products ingredients.

I learned from past experience that my skin does react quite badly when using products which contains bismuth in it. My face tends to get itchy, become reddish and feels like I have a sunburt. I experienced this after using two products - the Bare Minerals Original Mineral Foundation and the Laura Mercier Compact Setting Powder. Since then I take more time to research on products ingredients and read the ingredients list before jumping on the bandwagon. This was something that I never did before.

However, after testing the powders in the The Edit palette several times (read: every time I walked past a Sephora during my NYC trip!), I am glad to say that I didn't experience any skin reaction. Phew!

So I decided to make the plunge.

For the benefit of those who are not in the know, this palette is the 2015 Holiday Limited Edition from Hourglass. The palette comprises one powder (Dim Light), two highlighters (Iridescent Light and Diffused Light), two blushes (Mood Exposure and Luminous Flush) and a bronzer (Luminous Bronze Light).

And no surprises there, I finally understood why the powder and the blushes are very much well loved by beauty bloggers.

Since owning the palette, I now barely touched the Chanel compact powder. I am sure our relationship will rekindled at some point, but at the moment, I am truly enjoying my fling/affairs with the Ambient Lighting Powder - The Edit.
