The Iconic Manolo Blahnik Satin Hangisi Pumps

When it comes to investing in luxury designer items, I am a handbag lady through and through. But recently, I realised that I have established a small family of classic shoe collections. I swear it must have been the Christian Louboutin Decollette in Nude pumps that kicked off this new love affair of mine. I now also own the same design in Black because everyone needs a pair of classic black and nude pumps in their wardrobe, right?

But today, I wanted to talk about the latest addition to my luxury designer shoes family - the iconic Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Satin Pumps

If like me, you grew up watching every episode of the hugely successful Sex and The City TV series, you will have known that Manolo Blahnik is Carrie Bradshaw's favourite shoe brand. And it was when Big slid the pair of Navy Blue Manolo Blahnik Satin Hangisi onto Carrie's feet at the end of the first Sex and The City movie that I secretly wished to own a pair one day.

The Manolo Blahnik Satin Hangisi pumps come in a selection of myriad colours. The heels version comes in two heights, 105mm and 70mm. Mine is the 70mm version, which I find just the perfect height to ensure they remain comfortable after prolonged wear but at the same time, they are not as low as a typical kitten height heels. I chose the lower of the two heights purely for practical reasons given that I live in London and I take public transport almost all the time. If you're not a fan of high heel shoes, you may find a pair that you love from the Hangisiflat range, and if your mantra for shoes is the higher the better, then go for the 105mm height!

I must admit that the colour is not the most classic choice, but it was a conscious decision. While my wardrobe is made out of mainly neutral and monochrome shades, I do love the occasional pop of colours like red and fuchsia. Furthermore, with the Swarovski crystal embellished buckle, I foresee myself reaching out for these only for special events instead of for everyday use. After all, as mentioned above, I already own a pair of nude and black classic pumps from Christian Louboutin.

So far I've only worn these indoors and on a carpeted surface. I am still at the stage where I feel they are so precious to walk on pavements or streets but I am sure the day would come one day. Based on my limited wear, the heel feels really steady and stable.

I am also conscious that these are made of satin, which is the most unfriendly material weather wise. But hey-ho, you only live once and not every prized possession in your wardrobe needs to be practical.
